LIAA Strategic Plan

Enrolled Family & Educators Engagement

LIAA will support enrolled families by hosting enrolled family outings to cultural attractions, foreign language literacy events, and refer enrolled families to legal services. LIAA will partner with educators and DEI experts to provide family-school events to discuss DEI policies & teacher-student relations, host lecture series & workshops with language immersion experts, and cultural exchange meetups. Establish a DEI Taskforce that enrolled families or educators can join.

Policy & Advocacy

LIAA will execute an enrolled families DEI needs assessment in Fall 2021 to understand key priorities, needs, and interests at BESE and OPSB language immersion schools to develop a set of standards and high-impact policies to bring to the local district and state-wide level. Recruit attorneys to become LIAA Legal Allies to support enrolled families in need of legal assistance. LIAA will reach out to the Louisiana State Bar Association, Francophone Section, and pro bono attorneys to discuss education law.

Electoral Work

LIAA is committed to working to elect officials who are deeply committed to improving educational opportunities for children by making decisions in their best interest. LIAA will work with an established LIAA DEI Taskforce during critical elections to educate enrolled families on candidates who will keep children at the center of their policy decisions.
