Hurricane Ida Recovery Resources

Hurricane Ida has made landfall and devastated areas of Louisiana. Like many of you, I have been monitoring my child's individual school updates and The City of Nolafor updates and helpful information during this time.

From Ready Nola's website, The City of New Orleans is responding to impacts from Hurricane Ida. Widespread impacts include power outages, debris, and service interruptions. If you have evacuated out of New Orleans, they request that you DO NOT RETURN until further notice. Click here for their recovery information.Text NOLAREADY to 77295 for updates.

Apply for FEMA Assistance

Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance today by registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice. Ready Nola also released an article with information about How FEMA Can Help that is useful. Click here to read the Ready Nola How FEMA Can Help article. U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loans are available for homeowners, renters, businesses of any size and most nonprofits. Similar to FEMA, SBA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance.

  • For homeowners: up to $200,000 is available to repair or replace their primary residence. For homeowners and renters: up to $40,000 is available to replace personal property, including vehicles.

SBA will answer specific questions about how a disaster loan may help each survivor recover from the disaster damage For the latest information visit fema.gov/disaster/4611. Follow the FEMA Region 6 Twitter account at twitter.com/FEMARegion6 or on Facebook at facebook.com/FEMARegion6/.
